Unlock More FPGA & AI Performance with the Expanded Agilex™ 5 D-Series Family - Unlock More FPGA & AI Performance with the Expanded Agilex™ 5 D-Series Family
The expanded Agilex™ 5 D-Series FPGA and SoC family delivers a big leap in capabilities for mid-range FPGA applications, offering up to 2.5× more logic, memory, DSP/AI compute, and up to 2× external memory bandwidth. These enhancements make it ideal for designs that demand high compute performance in power and space-constrained environments. Why It Matters From Edge AI to 4K/8K video and 5G/6G wireless networks, today’s embedded systems demand higher compute capability, faster memory bandwidth, and lower latency for data processing. Agilex 5 D-Series FPGAs and SoCs deliver the performance and flexibility needed to meet these challenges, without compromising power efficiency or board space. Expanded Capabilities for Demanding Applications Built on Altera’s second-generation Hyperflex™ architecture, Agilex 5 D-Series devices now expand the density up to 1.6 million logic elements (LEs). The expansion devices also provide additional external memory interfaces versus the previous largest density device, while increasing the speed for each DDR5 interface up to 5,600 MT/s, and LPDDR5 interface up to 5,500 MT/s, 25% faster than previous specifications. These enhancements enable designers to meet the requirements in applications such as: Reducing latency in data processing for AI edge inference Increasing capacity in multi-band radios for 5G/6G wireless networks Increasing memory bandwidth for 4K/8K video processing in broadcast, medical, and industrial automation Increasing I/O interface bandwidth for high-performance test equipment Integrated AI Acceleration Agilex 5 FPGAs and SoCs are the industry’s first FPGA family to feature AI Tensor blocks infused throughout the logic fabric along with traditional DSP capabilities. These new Agilex 5 D-Series devices can deliver up to 152.6 peak INT8 TOPS performance. Together with Altera’s FPGA AI Suite software, developers can convert AI models from popular frameworks into optimized inference IP using a push-button flow. Security and Reliability Robust security is central to the hardware. All Agilex 5 D-Series FPGAs and SoCs include the Secure Device Manager (SDM) with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) secure boot, bitstream encryption, authentication, physically unclonable function (PUF) key storage, and anti-tamper protections. This comprehensive Security suite gives our customers the ability to future-proof their designs for current as well as future post-quantum threat vectors. Production Availability for Agilex Portfolio Altera is shipping multiple variants of all Agilex family members in production. Each family includes device variants with integrated SoC ARM processor subsystems optimized for edge AI and hardware-software co-processing applications. They deliver deterministic low-latency performance, embedded/SoC system integration, and power efficiency. Re: Unlock More FPGA & AI Performance with the Expanded Agilex™ 5 D-Series Family
This update to the agilex 5 D-series is exciting. Expanding the lineup gives developers more flexibility for handling ai workloads on fpgas, especially where you need both performance and efficiency. I’m curious to see how Intel is balancing power use with throughput and what kind of tool support they’re building around it, since that’s often what makes or breaks adoption in real projects. - 2025-09-30
