Advancing Multifunction Printer Capabilities through FPGA Technology - This paper discusses the impact of FPGAs on enhancing multifunction printers (MFPs), addressing the limitations of traditional MFP designs by offering hardware customization and accelerated processing. FPGAs provide MFPs with advanced image processing, heightened security with customizable encryption, scalability for diverse market needs, robust operation in extreme temperatures, low-latency processing for real-time tasks, easy reconfigurability for upgrades, and extended product life cycles. A case study showcases Altera FPGA Video and DisplayPort (DP) IPs, along with an Agilex™ 7 SoC FPGA-based hardware validated design example. The example design could also be ported to Agilex 5 devices (DP 2.0) or Agilex 3 devices (DP 1.4). - 2026-01-21
