Why do I observed an error when I try to upgrade the RAM 2-Port IP in Quartus® Prime Pro Edition 25.1.1? - Why do I observed an error when I try to upgrade the RAM 2-Port IP in Quartus® Prime Pro Edition 25.1.1? Description In Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 25.1.1 and later, the RAM 2-Port FPGA IP has undergone an internal update from version 20.5.0 to 20.6.0. If a design using an earlier version of the IP attempts to upgrade to version 20.6.0 (via Auto Upgrade or Manual Upgrade in the IP Parameter Editor), the following error will occur: Error: test_ram.ram_2port_0: "Write and Read Ports Configuration" (GUI_MULTIPORT_MODE) "3W/3R" is out of range: "1W/3R", "1W/2R" You must manually remove and regenerate the RAM 2-Port IP in Quartus® Prime Pro Edition 25.1.1 or newer to resolve this error. Resolution This issue will be fixed starting with Quartus® Prime Pro Edition 25.3. Users upgrading designs from earlier versions should do so using version 25.3 or later. If you are using 25.1.1, please follow the steps below as a workaround: 1. Delete the affected RAM 2-Port IP instance(s). 2. Re-instantiate and Re-generate the IP.
