Can I run boundary scan on a JTAG chain that contains a Stratix II, Stratix, Cyclone II or Cyclone devices and is longer then 8 devices? - Can I run boundary scan on a JTAG chain that contains a Stratix II, Stratix, Cyclone II or Cyclone devices and is longer then 8 devices?
Description Yes, you can. In the Stratix® II, Stratix, Cyclone® II and Cyclone devices handbooks it is stated that these devices must be within the first 8 devices in a JTAG chain. If any of these devices are in the 9th or further position, they will fail configuration. This limitation does not affect boundary scan. This is only a limitation for configuration. There is no restriction on the number of devices in a JTAG chain for the mentioned devices when using boundary scan.
