What are the Power Saving values based on in the Cyclone V and Arria V Early Power Estimator (EPE)? - What are the Power Saving values based on in the Cyclone V and Arria V Early Power Estimator (EPE)? Description The Cyclone® III, Cyclone IV and Cyclone V PowerPlay Early Power Estimator and the Arria® IIGX, Arria II GZ and Arria V PowerPlay Early Power Estimator have a "Power Saving" column which displays values for the amount of current that can be saved using power optimization techniques which is described in the PowerPlay Early Power Estimator User Guide (PDF) . The information message within the EPE offers the following description: "Estimated amount of power save by Programmable Power Technology feature for high speed/low power tile, Extra effort on power optimization and XCVR powered down mode." Note, the Programmable Power Technology feature for high speed/low power tiles is not supported by the Cyclone-series and Arria-series devices. However, the power savings values reported in the EPE are still valid since they are based on power optimization techniques as described in Power Optimization (PDF) .
