Getting Started with FPGA Power Estimation & Analysis - 33 Minutes Designing for low-power in today’s high-speed FPGA designs is more important than ever. Knowing the final design’s power usage early in the design process is necessary for making power supply design and budgeting decisions, not to mention designing a cooling solution. This training is your starting point for learning about power usage in Altera® FPGAs and the tools available for performing early power estimates before you've even created a project all the way through measuring the power used by your completed design. The training introduces and compares all of the power tools currently available: the Power & Thermal Analyzer (PTA), the Power & Thermal Calculator (PTC), the Early Power Estimator (EPE), and the Power Analyzer in the Altera Quartus® Prime Software. Course Objectives At course completion, you will be able to: Explain the differences between static and dynamic power Understand how power numbers are calculated by the power tools available in the Altera Quartus Prime Software Know where to go to learn more about the tools and get started using them Skills Required Basic understanding of the FPGA design flow and the Quartus Prime software If the audio for the course does not start automatically, press pause and then play on the course player. The transcript of the course audio is available in the Notes or closed captioning (CC) feature of the player. If you need assistance with this course, please email fpgatraining@altera.com .
