Identify two ISP instances - Identify two ISP instances Hi, I created a In-System Sources and Probes IP and I instantiated two in my design. Both are from the same module. I found two ISP instances in In-System Sources and Probes editor that have instance index 0 and 1. My problem is I can't identify which index number related to which instance in my design. Can you help me? Regards, Masaru Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances Thank you for your help. Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances Hi Masaru, Will reflect that to internal engineering team for enhancement. Thanks, Regards, Sheng Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances ShengN, Please don't be in hurry. The Automatic Instance Index Assignment option is useless for now. I would like to request improvement that the report file includes auto-assignment result. Regards, Masaru Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances Hi Masaru, So the problem had been resolved from your side? Thanks, Regards, Sheng Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances Hi Sheng, I'm surprised by the very backward responses. I think Quartus would be much better if the auto-assignment results were displayed in the report file. Regards, Masaru Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances Hi, How about not use Automatic Instance Index Assignment option and give four unique instance id. Thanks, Regards, Sheng Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances Thank you for your reply. I have generated IP with Automatic Instance Index Assignment option set. When compiling the project, Quartus automatically assigned instance id on all instances. But problem is I can't find any information in synthesis report or fitter report file. My test project grows big and finally I have four instances in it. I could identify the instance from the behaviour of connected signals, you pointed out this method. Another workaround, contributor FvM guided me not to use Automatic Instance Index Assignment option. I would like to hear from altera person. Regards, Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances If they generated only one instance of the IP, they would not be able to set different instance IDs for the two copies. In fact, they may show up with the same instance ID in the ISSP file but with different indices selected by the tool. Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances Hi, May I know do you have any further update or consideration? Thanks, Regards, Sheng Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances Ýou can also assign names to S&P instances, a four character Instance ID. Replies: Re: Identify two ISP instances Can't you tell by the signals you connected to each instance? - 2025-01-02
