Licesnse for Questa? - Licesnse for Questa? I downloaded the free, lite version of Quartus Prime and opted for installing Questa, during the installation setup. But now when I try to run it, it doesn't work. Is a separate license for Questa required? Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? Thanks, the NIC ID was the issue Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? no Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? May I know you're using company working environment like vnc or virtual machine? Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? Hmm, it looks like almost everything is correct. Could you double-check if the NIC ID is correct? Also this is a Fixed type license, correct? 5.5.1. Identifying Host's NIC ID Regards, Richard Tan Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? It is there already Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? I have added the fixed license, as SALT_LICENSE_SERVER environment variable Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? Latest version simulator needs environment variable SALT_LICENSE_SERVER for fixed license Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? The error mentioned that the license file does not has the "intelqsimstarter" feature. Please search for "intelqsimstarter" within the .dat license file. If it is not found, you will need to generate a no-cost license from SSLC using the following selection: Questa* – FPGA Starter Edition *Remember to update the environment variable with the newly generated license file. Regards, Richard Tan Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? Ok, I fixed a few things, according to what you wrote and it did improve things marginally. Now It opens, but I soon get this other error and it closes. One thing to note though is that I have the 24.1 version of the software. Since that is what is automatically downloaded, when you install Quartus lite. Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? Based on the messages, it seems like you might not have set up the environment variable correctly. Which Quartus/Questa version you are using? Starting from version 25.1, Questa Altera FPGA Edition no longer reads the LM_LICENSE_FILE and MGLS_LICENSE_FILE environment variables. Instead, you should use SALT_LICENSE_SERVER. Note that the SALT_LICENSE_FILE mentioned in the user guide is a typo and will not work. Please refer to the section titled "Setting Up the Questa*-Intel® FPGA Starter Edition Software License" in the user guide link provided by sstrell. If the issue persists, it might be due to license file issue. Ensure that: - The Questa license is not expired . - You are using the Starter license for the Questa Starter Edition , and a Non-Starter license for the Questa Non-Starter Edition . - The license type is Fixed and not a Floating license. Regards, Richard Tan Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? I did that, but nothing changed. When trying to launch Questa manually I just get this pop up and it goes away, with nothing happening afterwards. And when I set up Quartus to run the simulation automatically after compilation, I get the following messages: Replies: Re: Licesnse for Questa? I did that, but nothing changed.
